Mechanic (Electrical)

Performs mechanical work in the maintenance of buildings, vehicles, equipment and/or related systems. Work is performed under general supervision within established guidelines. Major/Essential Functions 1. Installs, Operates, and Repairs electrical equipment and systems of all types in accordance with the latest NEC guidelines.
2. Performs preventative maintenance on all existing electrical systems and equipment.
3. Keeps all work areas and related electrical equipment and/or tool rooms clean at all times.
4. Takes care of all tools belonging to the institution that are being used by the electrical department.
5. Provides quick and efficient response to work related emergencies during normal business hours after hours weekends, and holidays.
6. Performs other similar and related duties as assigned that utilize the employee's education, experience and unique skill set.
7. Other duties as deemed necessary by supervisor.
8. Performs regular electrical work after hours, weekends and holidays as deemed necessary by supervisor depending on workload and customer's needs.
9. Continuously seeks to improve the appearance and functionality of the workplace. Exemplifies Initiative, Responsibility and Commitment.
10. Actively participates and completes training personal development and continuing education.
11. Must have and maintain valid State of Texas drivers license and be listed as an approved driver as determined by Risk Management and Insurance carrier. Must be able to pass the employee criminal Background Check. Occasional Duties Ability to supervise task teams and monitor quality, team financial performance and team's time usage.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Basic knowledge and ability to install, operate, maintain and install building systems and associated equipment.
Skilled in the proper use of the tools, equipment and devices used in construction and maintenance.
Knowledge of occupational and safety hazards of the trade, PPE and industry accepted practices to prevent accidents.
Able to work and respond on weekends, holidays and after hours.
Basic understanding of electrical systems/networks and able to troubleshoot them. Required Qualifications High school or equivalent plus two years related experience. Specialized training or degree can exchange for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications Journeyman or Maintenance Electrician Certification
