Director of Patient Transport


Job Description:

  • To administer, analyze and appraise the care given to patients within the Department.
  • To advise hospital management regarding the status of patient care, budgetary projections, quality improvement processes.
  • To anticipate and estimate future needs of the Department to improve quality of patient care.
  • To collaborate and coordinate the efforts of the staff of the Department to accomplish the mission of Las Palmas Medical Center.
  • You will coordinate the care needs of assigned patients and develops comprehensive plans to manage care delivery across the patient care continuum.
  • You will partner with patients and their primary physicians to develop customized care plans based on their individual needs and preferences.
  • You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, social work, and others to ensure appropriate tests and treatments are delivered in a timely fashion.
  • You will advocate for the patient.
  • You will balance care needs and financial considerations to ensure efficient and effective treatments are achieved.
  • You will administer medical care while working within the confines of the ground ambulance and regional facilities.
  • You will provide both supervision and direct patient care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
  • You will have the knowledge of assessment, planning, and evaluating the care needs of the patient in the immediate transport period. Provides support for transport patients, families, and staff in the transport department.
  • You will evaluate the responses to treatments, interventions and anticipating the case specific needs based on knowledge of procedure and pathophysiology of the patient.
  • You will oversee all transport team projects to including the orienting and mentoring of new staff members.
  • You will actively participate in administrative decisions affecting patient care.
  • You will be responsible for the complete transport schedule.
  • You will help cover transport call as needed.
  • You will evaluate daily staffing and process payroll for the Transport Team.
  • You will review all transport charts and report transport numbers weekly to administration.
  • You will provide continuing education for the transport staff. You will perform quarterly advanced skills check-off with the transport team members.
  • You will review transport processes, Quality Assurance Process Improvement QAPI and report Action plans and quality results during month QAPI meetings/ Transport meetings.
  • You will coordinate and extend outreach education to other facilities in our community (STABLE, NRP, fetal monitoring, etc.)
  • You will be a Member of the Neonatal/Pediatric Transport Network Association, attend meeting for this organization to stay up to date on changes in TX laws for Neonatal/Pediatric Transports
  • You will write and maintain policies and protocols for Neonatal, Pediatric and Maternal transports.
  • You will assist other Children's Services department during times of high census with some aspects of patient care.
  • You will promote a multidisciplinary coordination of services, such as, nursing medical, respiratory care, laboratory, pharmaceutical and public relations.
  • You will develop, monitor, appraise and analyze budgetary goals and outcomes within the Transport Department.
  • You will control processes related to Human Resources; inclusive of hiring, evaluating, terminating, counseling, coaching and development of the staff.
  • You will be responsible for twenty four-hour coverage and problem resolution to the services provided (Neonatal, Pediatrics & Maternal services).


Qualifications:

  • Minimum College:
    Associate Degree, Diploma in Nursing, or BSN required, MSN preferred.
  • Current RN licensure in Texas or compact state.
  • BCLS.
  • ACLS.
  • PALS.
  • NRP Neonatal Resuscitate.
  • STABLE.
  • Minimum of five years clinical experience, three years of management experience required in an acute care setting.
  • Must have previous transport experience- Airmed, Flight RN.
  • Pediatric transport exp preferred.
  • C-NPT Neo Ped Transport; 24 months grace from date of hire/transfer.
  • TNCC Trauma Nursing Core Course; 1 year grace from date of hire/transfer.
  • ENPC Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course; 1 year grace from date of hire/transfer.
  • CCRN preferred.
  • PNCCT preferred.
  • TNATC preferred.
  • CTRN preferred.
  • CFRN preferred.
  • Critical Care Transport Experience preferred.
  • Three years' experience as a Registered Nurse in Neonatal and/or Pediatrics.
  • Will work 3 12 hr shifts as transport & while at the hospital will work with PICU/pediatric mentorship.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
