Summary

The Perioperative Registered Nurse / RN is a professional nurse who coordinates the delivery of nursing care for the patient in the surgical suite. The Perioperative Registered Nurse / RN demonstrates competence in the planning of care for the patient throughout the perioperative process. The Perioperative Registered Nurse / RN participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other disciplines in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the operating room setting through the use of evidence based medical practices.

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current state licensure or eligibility to do so.
  • BLS
  • AORN Certification preferred
  • ACLS or PALS optional
