MIDDLE SCHOOL (6-8) SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER Job Goal Under the direction and supervision of the Principal or designee, the candidate will plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program in Social Studies for students in 7th through 12th grade.
This program will create a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, employing differentiation strategies to motivate, inspire, and assess students effectively.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities to perform the following DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
? Supports and upholds the philosophy of Christian education and the mission of the school.
? Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality regarding school matters.
? Plans for instruction with logically sequenced objectives based on the adopted curriculum, submitting them according to school policy, and possessing knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
? Provides appropriate materials and resources for students to engage in learning.
? Utilizes effective instructional methods/models according to professional standards, including the ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management.
? Employs varied assessment tools to perform both formative and summative assessments and has the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
? Maintains current and accurate records according to school policy, using effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
? Practices positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom and demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.
? Communicates with parents regarding academic, behavioral, or safety concerns and is proficient in using computers, including software, databases used by the school, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculators, copy machines, and telephones.
? Meets staff development guidelines and possesses the ability to analyze data.
? Encourages and monitors the progress of individual students, using information to adjust teaching strategies.
? Attends department, school, and parent meetings as required.
? Actively participates in campus staff development and may serve on staff committees.
? Maintains a professional and collaborative relationship with colleagues.
? Ensures the maintenance of accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations.
? Prepares and submits required reports on students and related activities.
? Establishes and effectively communicates clear objectives for all learning activities.
? Assigns, evaluates, and grades classwork, homework, tests, and assignments.
? Takes daily attendance and records it appropriately.
? Regularly communicates necessary information to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
? Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.
? Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
? Performs any other duties as assigned by the school administration.
