Fiber Network Planner - EL Paso, TX

An employer is seeking a Fiber Network Planner to cover their El Paso, TX region who will work remotely and travel weekly within the regional territory.
This Planner will join the GIS/Fiber Network Engineering team, which is a small group of dynamic professionals.
The company builds and operates fiber optic networks, carrier wireless networks, and offers a variety of IP and Ethernet solutions for our customers.
Qualified candidates must have strong background in fiber assignment planning and/or field splicing experience and be a self-starter who is able to solve problems independently.
Daily responsibilities will include the following:
Determining strand availability within the market area on proposed routes for newly created projects Prepare fiber splicing MOPs (method of procedures) on assigned projects to create necessary continuity paths Upload/Submission of fiber splicing MOPs to local field splicing teams via tracking/workflow systems Help maintain fiber splicing/strand assignment documentation for the regional area to maintain accuracy of records Fiber Network Capacity Management Notifying Senior Fiber Network Planner and/or Fiber Planning team concerning overbuild scenarios for any over utilized sections within assigned network Assist in creating remediation plans for fiber constrained segments Assist on fiber cuts at any time to relay fiber/customer information to NOC and field teams Past or current FOA Certification Professional level of design knowledge and best practices 2
years experience with GIS Platform usage and training Professional level of knowledge with fiber optic networks and components Excellent communication skills and ability to discuss project scopes internally and externally Assist Regional teams during service outages, including scheduled maintenance windows after business hours, disaster recovery, and/or break/fix impromptu windows Microsoft Office Suite skills must be able to quickly learn and produce documentation Adobe PDF application skills must be able to create and modify documentation given within this format Travel Requirements 5% to 10% - getting out into the field to gain knowledge of existing fiber footprint Knowledge or experience with best practices for Construction and Fiber Networking Recommended Skills Adobe Communication Construction Curiosity Disaster Recovery Ethernet Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
