Certificates and Licenses Required Must have or obtain by date of hire a valid driver's license applicable to job responsibilities, with a driving record acceptable to the County of El Paso Typical Duties Essential Duties Assists County Departments in providing information about County business; Researches and develops articles, brochures, presentations, displays, reports, etc; Acts as a liaison with organizations, businesses, schools, special interest groups, media, etc.
; Creates, edits, and optimizes marketing material for the department's marketing publications; Assists with the development and posting of engaging content on social media channels and maintain a social media schedule; Attends events to capture photos and video to ensure timely and relevant posts and provide information to the media and the public; Uses design software or social media software to design attractive posts; Drafts prescribed memoranda, press releases and other correspondence regarding specified common marketing topics within deadlines; Maintains excellent working relationships and contacts with the media assisting them with interviews and information when needed:
Prepares responses to requests for information when appropriate; Researches media coverage and industry trends and remains current in such knowledge; Develops fresh story ideas to pitch to the media; Disseminates information for internet/intranet and website communications; Maintains social media sites including, but not limited to, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts with director approval; Develops and maintains marketing & email database; Coordinates flow of information and communication and disseminate it according to plan/strategy; Works with Communications Manager and department heads to determine project budgets and manage expenses within budget; Keeps track of new and existing route detours if applicable; Uses graphic design to create projects such as brochures, flyers and reports to support department programs; Drafts, reviews, edits, and distributes public service announcements and other information publications; coordinates personal presentations with social and civic organizations; Identifies, develops, and executes communications strategy for key media contacts and customer references; Prepares and presents information for conferences, workshops, meetings, and events; Implements cooperative advertising programs integrating the tourism related segments that exist in the region (merchant, food/beverage, arts, recreation, fairs/festivals, historical areas); Provides educational programs for hotel/motel personnel on events/attractions in El Paso County; Works closely with various department staff to develop presentations for conferences, workshops, meetings, and events; Conducts extensive media outreach; Manages video content; Consults with Communications Manager regarding department press releases for print, radio, television and social media; support social media updates; County web page on events; Develops, coordinates and implements marketing initiatives and events to promote assigned department; Coordinates marketing programs and special events; Attends county and community events to provide the public with information on department programs and events; Assists in preparing annual marketing plans; Performs special projects and other duties as assigned; Assists with arrangements and administrative details for special projects, as assigned; Works with companies and agencies throughout the region on promotional discounts for employees, marketing blasts, and maintain databases and established goal tracking; Assists department head, section managers and other staff in handling interviews with the media and specific customer complaints as needed; Promotes non-traditional media avenues, such as personal presentations explaining County programs and projects to social, civic and public organizations; including their availability on the County's web page, to social, civic and public organizations; Researches and develops articles, brochures, presentations, displays, reports, etc; Acts as a liaison with organizations, businesses, schools, special interest groups, media, etc.
; Ensures messages are supportive of and consistent with marketing strategies; Confers with other department staff before planning event; Assists with developing rental policies and procedures, subject to administrative approval; Assists with estimating time and cost of proposed projects; Assists public with information; handles customer complaints and keeps upper management apprised of potential problems and resolution; Prepares materials and present to division manager; Meets with representatives of organizations and companies to discuss marketing; Arranges for contract preparation with the division manager and presents to Department Head; As directed works at event to maintain safety and security of facility; Performs administrative duties; Creates and distributes - surveys in partnership with strategic planning; Commits self to providing excellent customer service and demonstrate commitment through cooperative team and individual efforts; and Creates a high quality work culture through participation in and emphasis on training and mentoring to develop leadership, management, and technical skills in self and all employees, including safety related training and skills.

As members of the County of El Paso Emergency Response System, all El Paso County employees are designated as Disaster Service Workers during a proclaimed emergency and may be required to train on emergency response and/or perform certain emergency services at the direction of their supervisor.
Job Summary Summary of Position The Marketing Coordinator works under general supervision in assisting County departments develop the information they need to get the message across to the public on the type of services they provide and how the members of the community can access them.
The incumbent is responsible for the creating and delivering of marketing ideas, advertising, social media, and promotional opportunities for the County Departments.

Has frequent contact with other coworkers, elected officials, contractors, granting agencies, foundations, media and their representatives, works closely with all administrative departments and outside agencies to create marketing programs that support the mission of the County, county employees, and the general public.
Additional Information Minimum Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of:
methods, principles, practice, techniques and objectives of public information and effective media communication in political, and community environments; marketing, promotion and public relations practices and procedures; basic graphic design abilities for various projects such as the development of promotional materials; marketing best practices; email marketing campaigns; preparation and setup practices and procedures; research and analysis practices and methods; detail-oriented approaches; English usage, grammar, punctuation and spelling (knowledge of AP Style guidelines a plus); techniques for effective interpersonal communications; modern office procedures and methods.
Skill/Ability to:
work with social media networks; interpret federal, state, and county laws, rules, regulations, related to public events and facilities; utilize strong time-management concepts that will help complete projects on time and within budget;; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; prepare clear, concise and comprehensive written reports; and establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with those contacted during the course of work; be proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office Suite.

El Paso County offers a very comprehensive benefit package (some benefits may not apply to part time or temporary employees) consisting of the following:
HOLIDAYS 16 holidays per year as recognized.
VACATION Accruals are credited on a biweekly basis and available for use as it is accrued after 6 months of continuous service.
Year to year carry-over accruals are limited to twice the employee's annual rate.
Part-time employees accrue vacation at half the rate of full-time employees.

21 RETIREMENT Retirement benefits are provided by the Texas County and District Retirement Fund (TCDRS).
Regular employees become a member of TCDRS upon hire.
All regular employees are required to contribute 7% to the retirement fund and the County matches 250% upon eligible retirements.
DEFERRED COMPENSATION Employees may defer earnings, on a pre-tax basis, into a 457 deferred compensation program.
This is an optional program.
LIFE INSURANCE Full-time County employees are provided a basic life insurance benefit of $10,000 life insurance at no cost.
Supplemental coverage is available for additional fees.
LONG-TERM DISABILITY The Long-Term disability program provides 60% of the employees' income when the employee becomes disabled because of an illness, injury or accident for a period above 90 days.
SHORT-TERM DISABILITY The Short-Term disability program provides 60% of the employees' income when the employee becomes disabled because of an illness, injury or accident for a period shorter than 90 days.
RETIREE HEALTH INSURANCE Employees who retire from the County are eligible to continue Health Insurance at the rate set by the El Paso County Risk Pool Board.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM Employees are enrolled in an Employee Assistance Program that provides a variety of counseling services.
SECTION 125 MEDICAL & DEPENDENT CARE PROGRAM The section 125 program is optional for employees and provides a method to pay medical and dependent care expenses on a pre-tax basis.
HEALTHY LIFESTYLE REIMBURSEMENT Reimbursement of $15 per month for 6 months of continuous gym usage.
EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EdAP) Reimbursement up to $2000 per calendar year for eligible education expenses.
EMPLOYEE FITNESS AND WELLNESS CENTER The Employee Fitness and Wellness Center opened in October 2021 at the County Courthouse.
The cost is $5 per employee per month.
