Experience:
A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Social Science, Human Services or related field and two (2) years of experience in Animal Welfare.
Licenses and Certificates:
Texas Class C Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
General Purpose Under general direction, plan, coordinate and supervise the operations of the Community and Pet Support Program.
Typical Duties Plan, coordinate and supervise the operations of the Community and Pet Support program.
Involves:
Plan, assign and supervise the work of assigned personnel and provide advice and counsel to subordinates in enforcing laws, ordinances and regulations.
Recruit volunteers, train home base volunteers and employees.
Investigate lost animals, validate against Found Animal Reports, work with the City's 311 Customer Service Center to facilitate reunification.
Build and maintain relationships with lost pet social media administrators to develop customer and pet support program.
Provide human care, treatment and handling of animals.
Handle and move animals to facilitate the interaction between animals and patrons upon reunification.
Ensure compliance with quarantine orders.
Prepare notifications for the news media and handle public inquiries.
Advise the public on laws, ordinances, policies and regulations.
Assist in the development of policies and procedures for program.
Interpret program rules, regulations, policies and procedures for subordinates or the public Ensure that Human and Animal Support Services (HASS) guidelines are followed and make recommendations to management on program implementation.
Perform assigned program administrative functions.
Involves:
Develop Quality Assurance monitors for the program.
Assist in budget preparation and utilization and tracking of resources.
Assist in development of marketing plan.
Assist in the development of strategic planning for Animal Shelter Advisory Board (ASAB).
Develop necessary forms to support operations.
Maintain fields and update automated records.
Maintain accurate documentation and tracking of violations and code enforcement activities.
Perform related duties as required.
Supervise assigned staff.
Involves:
Schedule, assign, instruct, guide and check work.
Appraise employee performance.
Provide for training and development; enforce personnel rules and regulations, and work behavior standards firmly and impartially.
Counsel, motivate and maintain harmony.
Interview applicants.
Recommend hiring, termination, transfers, discipline, merit pay or other employee status changes.
